Fair Share Shack

The children of Corydon Presbyterian church are among those who are proud to working to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families around the world. We are aware that there are many people around the world who work very hard to produce goods to sell in order to take care of their families, but because of the way the conventional markets are set up, the worker often ends up receiving the least money for what is produced. We are learning that Fair Trade Organizations such as Equal Exchange work really hard to set fair standards and provide a fair market for small farmers to sell their goods. Through established co-ops, farmers are directly paid guaranteed prices above the world market price, thus allowing them to avoid middlemen (coyotes) and brokers who soak up the profit.
The children of CPC care about fairness in the world and we believe we can do our part to help others build a better future for their families. Through the “FAIR SHARE SHACK”, the children of CPC offer you an opportunity to support the worthy cause of fair trade. We purchase products at a fair price from ”Equal Exchange” and other fair trade organizations and then make them available to you. You can help by deciding to purchase these products and use them regularly in your home or give them as gifts. Each time you purchase a fairly traded product, you help to empower poor communities in the developing world by building pride, fostering independence and promoting education.
